WiFi Doctor: Speed Test
Getting Started
How do I run a WiFi speed test?
Open the app and tap Run Quick Test. WiFi Doctor measures latency, jitter, download speed, estimated upload, DNS timing, and current connection status, then creates a plain-English diagnosis.
What does the diagnosis mean?
The diagnosis is a rule-based estimate from your test results. It can point to likely causes such as ISP speed limits, high ping, unstable latency, DNS delays, weak room coverage, or many active devices. It is intended as practical guidance, not a guaranteed technical audit.
Why do results change between tests?
WiFi changes constantly. Device load, router distance, VPNs, Low Data Mode, ISP routing, server availability, background downloads, and other people using the network can all change speed and latency.
Rooms and Reports
How do room tests work?
Create or select a room, run a test from that location, and save the result. Over time, WiFi Doctor can compare your best and weakest rooms so you can test router placement, mesh node changes, or desk moves.
What is included in the PDF report?
Reports can include speed, ping, jitter, DNS timing, room details, diagnosis, evidence, and recommended fixes. They are useful before an ISP call or while adjusting router placement.
Device Scan and Permissions
Why does Device Scan ask for Local Network access?
iOS requires Local Network permission before an app can discover services on your current network. WiFi Doctor asks only when you start Device Scan, and uses it to find services such as routers, TVs, printers, and cast devices.
Why does the app ask for Location?
iOS may require location permission before exposing current WiFi details such as SSID, BSSID, or signal strength to apps. WiFi Doctor uses those details only for network diagnosis when available.
Does WiFi Doctor scan nearby WiFi networks?
No. iOS does not allow App Store apps to perform full neighboring-network scans or Android-style channel surveys. WiFi Doctor stays within iOS-supported connection, speed, DNS, latency, and local network signals.
Free vs Premium
What's free vs Premium?
Free: Unlimited quick speed tests, 3 saved room tests per month, basic DNS and latency diagnosis, Device Scan preview, last 10 saved results, 1 sample PDF export, and ads. Premium: Unlimited room tests, full history and room comparisons, unlimited PDF reports, device rename and scan history features, and zero ads.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, where configured in App Store Connect, the Premium Annual plan includes a 7-day free trial. You can cancel through your Apple ID subscription settings before the trial ends.
How do I restore or cancel my purchase?
Open Settings inside the App and tap Restore Purchases. To cancel a subscription, open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose WiFi Doctor.
Privacy
Where is my test history stored?
Your saved test history, room names, local device records, preferences, and reports are stored on your device unless you choose to export or share them. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Why does the free version show ads?
Ads support the free tier. Premium removes banner and interstitial ads. The free tier uses Google AdMob and may request tracking permission where required.
